Toyota Australia have confirmed pricing for the LandCruiser 300 which goes on sale in the fourth quarter of this year! In addition to the GX, GXL, VX and Sahara variants, Toyota are releasing two new models to the LandCruiser line up for Australia including the GR Sport and Sahara ZX.
The GR Sport is an off-road focused model featuring 18″off-road designed alloys, black flared wheel arches, front and rear locking differentials as well as a whole heap of blacked-out components including a uniquely styled black mesh grill with bold TOYOTA lettering, side steps, door handles, mirror casings, window line and an unpainted lower front bumper.
The previous hydraulic actuated KDSS suspension has been replaced with the new e-KDSS (electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System) which electronically disengages front and rear sway bars for improved axle articulation and wheel travel when off-road. The GR Sport also includes five driving modes, adaptive variable suspension, adaptive high beam and carbon trim. It’s nicely finished with GR Sport badging to the grill, doors, tailgate, steering wheel, front-seat headrests, ignition button and multimedia screen on start-up. Pricing for the GR Sport starts at $137,790.
The Sahara ZX is a more luxury based variant of the LC300 and includes features such as 20″ alloys, a uniquely styled front bumper, grill headlights and tail lights as well as illuminated side steps, front-door scuff plates, rear mudguards and chrome highlights on the rear bumper.
The leather-accented interior is available in 3 colour options, and carbon-look highlights are laced throughout the interior. Luxury features include four heated and ventilated seats, hands-free tailgate with a kick sensor, and a torque-sensing limited-slip diff at the rear. The Sahara ZX is priced from $138,790.
The GR Sport and Sahara ZX as well as the rest of the line-up features much the same redesign as overseas models including the all-new V6 twin turbo diesel motor (only the diesel option making it to our shores) producing 227kW of power @4000rpm and 700Nm of torque between 1600-2600rpm, mated to a 10 speed automatic transmission, on an all-new chassis and body design.
Newly developed 4 link suspension still carries a similar IFS front and coil over live axle rear configuration of the previous 200 Series and as previously mentioned, features the new e-KDSS design.
Fuel tank capacity is 130L consisting of an 80L main tank and 40L sub tank. GVM sits at 3280kg with a kerb weight ranging from 2470kg to 2580kg depending on the model.
The GX model which loses its raised air intake and rear barn doors to a single piece tailgate starts at $89,990 with the GXL sitting at $101,790, VX at $113,990 and Sahara at $131,190, and pricing is fairly comparative to the outgoing LC200. With the LandCruiser in its 70th year of production, it’s been a big year for Toyota’s flagship off-road vehicle and we are sure these things will sell just as well as the previous 200!
